We welcome back Shirley Waxman, from the SBMA docent council, who will present a PowerPoint presentation beginning with some of the earliest and most refined examples of Italian paintings, including Sandro Botticelli's stunning "Birth of Venus." This lecture guides you through 400 years of Italian painting, from the High Renaissance, through the dramatic Baroque era, to the Eighteenth Century. Finally she will explore the degree to which Italian artists engaged with the latest avant-garde developments in Nineteenth Century European art. Everyone is welcome.
