BARKLEY ON BROADWAY
Wednesday, June 26 - 4:30pm - Music Room. Barkley Kern is the son of our very own Tom and Jane Kern. Barkley performed in musicals during his school years and, after learning some guitar, played in bands outside of school for most of his life. Most recently, he was the lead singer of the Swing Shift Big Band, which plays the Washington, D.C. club and society circuit. Since moving to Santa Barbara in 2015 with his wonderful wife Cristina, Barkley has become a solo act, and he has put together a program of classic Broadway tunes with an emphasis on Rodgers and Hammerstein and Cole Porter. Please join us to enjoy “Barkley on Broadway.”

CASA HEALTH LECTURE BY DR. WEINSTEIN
Wednesday, July 17 - 3:30pm - Auditorium. Please join us for a health lecture by Alex J. Weinstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., who will be speaking on the topic of Common Geriatric Urological Problems. Dr. Weinstein graduated with honors (AOA) from the University of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine in 1982. He did his residency training at the Harvard Program in Urology at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He is certified by the American Board of Urology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been a member of the Credentials Committee and the Medical Advisory Panel at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and previously served as Chairman of the Department of Urology and was a member of the Medical Executive Committee at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. He has been practicing Urology in Santa Barbara since 1987 and has been voted one of Americas Top Physicians by his peers in each of the last six years. Don't miss his informative presentation.

Monday, July 1 - 11:00am - Meet in Great Hall. Have you heard about our monthly Docent Tours? The tours began in 2015 for the purpose of informing residents about our campus, programs and staff. Tours are held on the 1st Monday of most months, meeting in the Reception area of the Great Hall at 11:00 am. Tours last for half an hour, followed by an optional lunch in the Dining Room. Casa resident Nancy Spivey and Casa’s Director of Social Services, Cristina Mendez, will be your Guides. Please join us on this upcoming tour, and see what surprises we have in store for you!

CALIFORNIA GOLD BALLROOM DANCE STUDIO CLASSES
Monday, August 5 - 2:00pm - Auditorium. Introductory class is complimentary. Recently, National Ballroom Dance Champions, Diane Meehan and Vasily Golowin, and students from their studio, performed for the Entertainment Committee’s Ballroom Blitz performance at Casa Dorinda. From this evening, the enthusiasm was overwhelmingly positive to have them return to give Casa residents exclusive classes where they would teach the basics of ballroom and Latin dance; including, dance movements, steps, timing and technique of ballroom dance. Did you know: Dance reduces the chances of Alzheimer's Disease by 75%, increases happiness and memory, builds core strength, endurance, balance, and improves posture in a fun group setting? No partner needed, no experience necessary, wear comfortable clothes, non-rubber soled shoes and a smile! Once you have watched this demonstration, you will have an opportunity to sign up for a 4-week group class, starting August 12.
