NELSON HOWARD RESIDENT LECTURE:
VINTAGE CARS WE HAVE OWNED AND LOVED

Friday, May 10 - 4:30pm - Auditorium. Who doesn’t love reminiscing about their first car? Well, we are lucky to have a number of Casa residents who have owned and loved some beauties and have photos and stories to share. Since the age of 3, Jw Colin has been fascinated by cars which continues to this very day. In the intervening years, he and Sue have owned some 61 cars which he has personally helped restore and has driven, some very fast! Some were ‘vintage’ at the time, others were just classy (and now vintage — as with our age). Polly Griscom will also share her story about her favorite ‘ride’ to Providence, RI. Dave Williams, Jim Hezlep, and guest Dana Newquist (current President of AACA-Antique Automobile Club of America-Santa Barbara Region, Co-Chair of Montecito Motor Classic and Director of Murphy Auto Museum) will also regale us with their obsession with cars. Chef Michael will use his creative talent to offer a dinner menu paired with times of yesteryear.

Please also let us know if you have suggestions of topics or residents for future lectures. The life-stories and passions of Casa residents are a true adventure and fascinating!

OJAI RAPTOR CENTER IS COMING TO CASA

Tuesday, May 28 - 4:30pm - Auditorium. We welcome back Kim Stroud, Director of the Ojai Raptor Center, who has been taking care of, and teaching about, raptors in rehabilitation since 1992. Though the O.R.C. is dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured birds of prey, some birds are unable to be released for various reasons. It is these birds that Kim will present to us; birds such as owls, falcons and hawks. Don’t miss this exciting and educational presentation!

This course is for all, the beginner and the advanced student. When your piece(s) are finished they can be holiday gifts for family & friends, or you might consider a donation to Casa's Annual Holiday Bazaar. Cost for eight weeks is $150, to be billed.
