STERLING SILVER SPOON BRACELET & PENDANT WORKSHOP WITH BOB & HOWARD

Mondays - 1:30 pm - Jewelry Studio. Join Jewelry instructors and Casa residents, Bob Bodine and Howard Scar, for their on-going workshops, using sterling silver spoons. Please bring a no-longer-used sterling spoon to convert into wearable jewelry, for yourself or as a gift. No experience or sign-up necessary - just come by the Jewelry Studio on Mondays! 

KINDERMUSIK WITH TODDLERS

Thursdays - 10:30 am - PC Activity Room. Join us on Thursdays for this fun music program with toddlers. Everyone is welcome!

RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION MEETING

Friday, September 22 - 11:00 am - Auditorium. This is your opportunity to learn what is happening at Casa and to make your own comments. Administration will be there to field any questions. All residents are encouraged to attend. Be prepared to ask questions on any issue that is on your mind. Copies of the agenda are available at Reception. 

MINDFULNESS CLASS WITH DR. SHERMAN

Wednesday, September 27 - 10:30 am - Education Center. This easy-to-learn skill enables us to have more insight, self-acceptance, and self-control. We can reduce tension, feel much calmer, and think more optimistically. And, when combined with the emerging findings from positive psychology, we can choose to act in the most healthy and fulfilling ways. Come acquire something that feels good and has enormous benefit. These classes are presented at no charge. 

LUNCH WITH THE DIETITIAN

Friday, October 6 - 12:30 pm - Dining Tent. Casa Dorinda’s very own Registered Dietitian, Shannon Finnegan, will be hosting a casual lunch once a month, with interested residents, to openly discuss the importance of nutrition and various nutrition topics trending today. Come join your fellow residents to take part in this fun learning-opportunity! The lunches will continue to be held the first Friday of every month. 

CAMPUS DOCENT TOUR WITH NANCY

Monday, October 9 - 11:00 am - Meet in Great Hall. Casa resident Nancy Spivey is leading a half-hour walking tour, which may help new and current residents to familiarize themselves with Casa buildings and grounds. The optional lunch following the tour is an opportunity to meet fellow residents.

NOVEMBER TECH CLASSES WITH INSTRUCTOR DORY TURK

These classes are so much fun with the newest iOS 11 software update. Classes will be held in the Craft Studio. Each four-week class is $60, to be billed. Please sign up in the Mail Room.

CARD-MAKING WORKSHOP WITH DENYSE

Fridays - 1:30 pm - Painting Studio. Have you ever made your own handmade cards? If not, you’ll enjoy exploring the joys of working with paper and making your own beautiful one-of-a-kind creations for family and friends. Stunning materials are provided for a minimal cost of .75 cents per card, to be billed. For those who would like to help with the Holiday Bazaar, the committee would love your help in making individual cards and sets for sale. There is no cost for these cards, and all materials will be provided. 

CAFÉ DES ARTISTES: "CARVED PAPER, THE ART OF THE JAPANESE STENCIL"

Tuesday, September 26 - 4:00 pm - Auditorium. Join your friends at another delightful Café des Artistes. Enjoy a glass of wine and Chef Michael’s hors d’oeuvres at your cafe table. The slideshow/ lecture will be presented by the S. B. Museum of Art volunteer-docent Kathryn Padgett. Japanese paper stencils, or Katagami, are the pattern-bearing tools used in a resist-dyeing textile process, so come and learn more of this amazing art.

Friday, October 6 - 4:00 to 5:15 pm - Personal Care Dining Room. Please join us for an Artist Reception & Exhibition for Casa resident Jan Williams. Enjoy talking to the artist and seeing the inventive and fresh approach Jan has taken to her watercolor paintings with lots of color and added woven and cut paper to her paintings. Hope to see you there; refreshments will be provided.

SANTA BARBARA SYMPHONY TALK WITH SAÏD RAMÓN ARAÏZA

Thursday, October 12 - 4:30 pm - Music Room. Ramón’s entertaining conversations delve into the personal lives of some of classical music’s most famous composers, sharing their experiences and stories of how their music came about. In October, Ramón joins us for the pre-concert talk of the Santa Barbara Symphony’s season-opening program, Mozart in Dance. Come hear Ramón at the piano and discover more about the classic.
